1. Scope and controller
This Privacy Policy explains how SubCaptions ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"), provided by Enes Sakut in Türkiye, handles information when you use the iOS application or visit these legal pages.
2. Information handled by the App
Videos and photos
When you choose a video, the App accesses only the media you select or the photo-library access you authorize. The media is used to generate captions, preview edits, and create exports. SubCaptions does not upload your media to servers operated by us.
Captions, transcripts, and translations
Speech transcription is performed on your device using WhisperKit-compatible models. Caption editing and supported Apple Translation features also run through on-device Apple frameworks. Generated text remains in the App's local project data unless you export or share it.
Local projects and preferences
The App stores projects, selected caption styles, language preferences, export settings, and the state of your complimentary Pro action locally on your device using app storage.
Purchase and subscription information
If you view, purchase, or restore a subscription, Apple and RevenueCat may process purchase history, transaction receipts, subscription status, an app-scoped anonymous identifier, and limited device or application technical information. We use this information only to provide and restore paid features and to prevent entitlement errors. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Usage analytics and crash diagnostics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App performs and which product areas need improvement. Analytics events may include the screen being viewed, time spent on that screen, feature actions such as starting or completing caption generation, translation, export, purchase, or restore flows, and limited app and device technical information. Firebase may associate these events with an app-instance or installation identifier.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and non-fatal technical errors. Crash reports may include stack traces, app version, operating-system and device information, the current screen, error context, and related diagnostic state. We configure telemetry so that video files, media URLs, caption or transcript text, translation text, and payment details are not included in analytics events or Crashlytics custom values.
Support communications
If you contact us, we process the information you choose to provide so we can respond to your request.
3. Permissions
- Photo Library — read access: lets you select videos to caption.
- Photo Library — add access: lets you save an exported video when you request it.
You can change Photo Library access at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking access may prevent importing or saving media, but does not remove files you previously exported.
4. How information is used
- To transcribe, translate, style, preview, and export captions.
- To save and reopen local projects and preferences.
- To process purchases and restore subscription entitlements.
- To measure feature reliability and aggregated product usage.
- To diagnose crashes, export failures, and other technical errors.
- To provide support, maintain security, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information. The App does not include third-party advertising and does not use your videos or captions to train our own machine-learning models.
5. Service providers
- Apple: provides the App Store, payments, StoreKit, Photo Library APIs, and Translation frameworks. Apple's handling of information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: validates purchases and manages subscription entitlements. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase: provides Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for limited product-usage measurement, crash reporting, and technical diagnostics. See Firebase Privacy and Security and Google's Privacy Policy.
- GitHub Pages: hosts this legal website and may process standard web request information such as IP address and browser details. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.
Providers may process information in countries outside your own, including the United States, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
6. Retention and deletion
Local projects and preferences remain on your device until you delete them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. You can delete exported videos through the Photos app.
Apple and RevenueCat retain transaction information as required to provide subscriptions, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations. For a request concerning RevenueCat information, contact us using the method below so we can help identify and process the request.
Firebase retains analytics and crash diagnostic information according to the retention controls and policies provided by Google. Deleting the App removes its local installation data and stops future telemetry from that installation, but does not automatically erase diagnostic or aggregated records already retained by a service provider.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, and to request data portability or withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Because most App content is stored only on your device, we may not possess the media or caption data you ask about. We will still explain available device controls and assist with any purchase information or app-instance diagnostic data we can reasonably identify.
8. Security
We use platform security controls and minimize data transfer. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
9. Children
SubCaptions is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request, contact us so we can address it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App, service providers, or applicable law. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or rights requests, visit the SubCaptions contact page or email enes.sakut@icloud.com. Do not include videos, captions, payment details, or other sensitive information in your initial message.
